Ok, I think we have established that we have been getting some wierdness with the appstore showing us that there are several apps to update when we have already updated them. On and off, they keep appearing and disappearing...

but....

Have anyone experience an application that you haven't updated yet and when you try to update it, it shows the status bar of updating the software and then once it completes, it's still the same old version.

Specifically for me, I have the Free app "AroundME". Basically from the looks of things it's only changing the icon of the application but when I try to update, it replaces the icon as it goes through the update, once it completes the update, it reverts back to the old icon, hence, it didn't take the new update.

I'm not sure if there are others out there experiencing the same thing but with different apps?

I also have the AroundMe app on my iPhone and i'm also experiencing the same issues that you are encountering. It won't change the icon.

I just did this with the NY Times version 2.0. It took 4 times to trying to install it that it actually installed the right version.

I held off updating anything. Everytime I click on check for update it keeps telling me different things that is needed to update. Back and forth back and forth, it's different every time.

I've run into the same problems lately. Last night I tried a soft reset of the phone (hold top button, slide to turn off) which did not help. Then I did a hard reset (hold home and top button for 10 sec) which did fix it. Then the appropriate updates showed up and worked. Not sure if this will work every time or not, but I'll let you know.

This does tell me that a soft reset does not truly reset everything. I had been wondering that.

I am having the same issue with Around Me, it has 'updated' 3 times today and changes the icon but a while later still says there's an update available..

Updating the apps via iTunes, then syncing it with your iPhone seem to fix the issue temporarily but be warned even iTunes is acting funky on the updates for the apps.

You could consider deleting the app and downloading it fresh. You'll lose your settings/data but you won't be charged to download the same app twice, using the same iTunes account.
