iPod touch. In water!

Yeah...well I dropped my ipod touch in the toilet.
DONT ASK WHY. lol
But yeah. Is there anyway I can repair this? If i were to take it to the apple store, would they replace it?
I know this is a stupid question cause I dont have warranty on it. It's the 1st generation model too.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Let it sit and dry for a few days. Unfortunately, they have a liquid sensor in it, so the Apple Store will know if you take it there.

Yeah this actually happened like a week ago. did nothing to it, still doesnt work.

I have no idea how much they charge, but you can take it and find out. Then, you'll be able to decide which is cheaper.

The warranty only covers manufacturing defects (in other words, faulty parts). As has been mentioned, there is a water sensor built into the iPod, so once someone at the Apple Store checks it (which is normally one of the first things they'll do), they'll say it isn't covered by warranty.

I'd say it'd be cheaper to just buy a new iPod. Apple tends to charge about $250 just for screen replacements, so to fix all the damaged insides of the iPod will cost quite a bit.

Corrosion internally is the problem. It may work for awhile after it drys out,
but it'll start malfunctioning pretty soon. No way its cheaper to fix.

Yeah I know its my fault and everything. I was just wondering and curious, cause this was the first time it has ever happened to me.
I know they wouldn't fix it for free. Just asked of curiosity.

Put it in rice, a bowl or bag of it and let it dry, the rice takes the moisture out of it. dont ask me how it works but it does. it should dry out completely as long a u didnt press any buttons or try and turn it on. :eek:
