I just got the housing guide from the school Im going to next year. It says to use the wireless network with a laptop I need a PCMCIA card slot, and I know the12" Powerbooks dont have one. Is this going t be a problem? Couldnt the airport extreme be used? I'm going to SUNY DELHI if anyone else goes there. Well anyway, Im going to email them now.

Yes, a PB with airport would be just fine. I can link up to wireless networks around my university with my PB.

And it installs internally, so nothing sticking out the side like other wireless cards.

They all use WIFI standard. There is no reason for it not to work with any router/transmitter. But if they don't support macs officially, they just wont help you if you run into setup troubles. In general, if you are relatively comfortable with network works and security, there is nothing to worry about. It should work. (unless they do something on purpose to block macs)

Before you assume that your campus' wireless network will be compatible with your PB, check to see what protocol they're using. If they're using 802.11b or 11g, you'll be OK. If they're using 802.11a, you'll need another solution.

Chances are, they're using 11b or 11g, but you probably want to ask someone first.
