I'm trying to figure out if this hard drive 320 GB 5400 RPM Western Digital ATA Hard Drive (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/136790/show_product_specifications?spectype=extended) is compatible with my Powerbook G4 17".

no, it will not work. the interface is diffrent. newegg carries a 320gb IDE 2.5" drive which is what your looking for.

You need an ata-6 or ultra ata drive (the one with a lot of pins as the interface). They are a little hard to come by these days, especially in anything over 100GB. Good luck

If your looking to buy from ebuyer then you will have to choose from these drives: http://www.ebuyer.com:80/search?page=1&store=2&cat=4&subcat=19. There is a 250GB drive, but its almost 20 pounds more then the SATA drive. Sad, I know.

many thanks guys. I wanted to go for a 320GB or higher but in this case i'll have to settle with a 250 GB one.
