Prioritizing Firefox over Torrents

I'm new to Mac OSX and i've noticed when i'm downloading torrents at even slower speeds than my connection can handle... Firefox runs really slowly.

I didn't have this problem in Windows, is there a way to prioritize my browser so transmission will slow down when i'm surfing the web?
 
If you wanna be an ass (like I usually am), you can set your upload speed to 5kb/s so you can still browse at decent speeds.
