I'm reading the latest issue of Rolling Stone and in the "Threat Assessment" section, it says "Obama edges Jesus in poll as America's top hero." Whether it's true or not, I still think it's really cool. :)

Sorry for the crapy pic...:o

Cool? Cool that a truly evil man is managing a fanatical fascist movement in the USA? Cool that so many people are being duped? Cool that he's not kept a single promise he's made so far - except to establish a fanatical youth militia? Cool how exactly?

Jesus has established another fanatical youth militia?

Jesus is a truly evil man?

No, that would be Barack Hussein Obama II.

If there's anyone to "blame" for Obama being elected it's the Republicans. They could have chosen someone like McCain in 2000. But no, they wanted someone who they would like to have a beer with. That someone made such a mess that any Republican would have a hard time getting elected.

Indeed. It's one of politics truisms that oppositions don't win elections, it's incumbent governments that lose them.

Nermal has ruled. Enough. Back on topic.

I still think it is cool.

Even though the honeymoon continues for a while, barring more Republican "wall-banging", I am certainly willing to see what he can do with the mess he inherited.

What, do you think the republicans will start stating that Obama himself stated he was bigger than jesus?

Oh man is it going to look silly when they start burning his albums;)

I honestly think this is a bad thing. Reason being is no single person should be though of like an religious icon. Obama should not be thought of as a god nor should any one.

I still think Obama is a nothing more filthy stinking scumbag politician. At the end of the day all he cares about is power.

If anyone would like to see how delusional allot of these people who voted for Obama are, visit http://theobamaforum.com. Those people think there is a stimulus check coming for everyone and that Obama is truly God and the Saviour.

I hope and think that it is only a matter if time before people start getting upset when more and more people lose jobs and retirement funds as well as huge taxes that are sure to come from this "stimulus" package.

It's a mess now, just wait another year. People's opinions will change. Thinking back to Bush, people will wish he were still in.

The site isn't meant to be. I would agree though that probably half of the people there are pretend blacks who are taking the site as a playtoy. The other half are there thinking that Obama is God.

That's the thing about satire. If it is done well it's hard to tell what's real and what isn't. Although you claim otherwise there's no way of telling who's a serious poster and who isn't. Claiming there's a 50:50 split is nothing more than blatant guesswork on your behalf.

I don't really think highly of the method of judging a pubic figure by how a portion of the public views him/her.

I will cede that there is a certain % of people out there who will not judge by generally-accepted rigorous intellectual standards - yet they are afforded a voice in politics regardless. The basis or content of their perception or beliefs does not necessarily reflect accurately on the person they are focused on. The fact an demonstrable idiot supports person X does not make person X an idiot.

As to the general topic posed, I think this "hero" thing has very little to do with Obama - and more in the fact that people are either conditioned to expect, or desperately want a "hero" to miraculously save them. Conditions are certainly uncertain and dire.

I am not sure that any reasonable person of any political persuasion would think that Obama will be able to miraculously "fix" everything. I also think it is unfair to blame him if things are not miraculously fixed - at least until a certain amount of time has passed and analysis can be made.

Unfortunately for the poster, the link provided describes a bunch of lies about Obama and them proceeds to debunk them. Helpful hint: it's always a good idea to read the content of the link before you post it.

Rather than attempting to refute all these ridiculous claims, it might be more beneficial to debate precisely which medication Tessy is off: Haldol? Thorazine? Abilify?

These over-the-top expectations of Obama are ridiculous. But if you're going to say that he is evil, what does that make Bush? Satan to the 10th power? I haven't seen anything that Obama has done so far that would label him as evil.

And McCain is not retarded.

I was using the word "retarded" for emphasis. I thought there were much better candidates for the GOP to choose from. Mitt Romney, with his financial experience, would be better prepared to handle the recession, but then again there's the whole mormon thing. IDK how I feel about that.

Could you think about it and, if you can realize how you feel about it, share it here? Your comment suggests that you have reservations. I'm curious why you may think that being a Mormon would make someone any less qualified, all else being equal, than someone who, like Obama, professes to be a Christian (whatever that is). No, I am not Mormon, and carry no water for any religion. Are you concerned that a Mormon may want to take more than one wife? If so, how is that any less respectable than, say, Clinton who had one wife but many mistresses?
