Hi, I am selling my Canon HV20 and am looking for the easiest way to dump 16 tapes, (16 hours), of footage onto DVDs, one at a time, using imovie. It will take forever to import the whole tape, drag to the edit line, and export to idvd.

iMovie 6 used to have a magic movie feature, but they removed the free download of that older version.

To be clear, I do not need to edit the footage. I need only to get them off of miniDV tape and onto DVD.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

unrelated but how much are you selling the hv20 for?

probably the fastest way. Sony makes a decent one with Firewire in for about $100. Not sure if it handles HDV, if you shot it that way.

Hey, thanks for the head's up.

Do you have a link for that item? I would gladly pay that to get this footage transferred. It should be able to down convert in camera to standard DV.

B&H has a decent customer service, they might be able to confirm that the two devices play nicely together.
