It would seem that Powell is finally having to admit that his shameful performance at the UN before the war was largely bogus, based, as we now know, on uncorroborated single-source claims by Iraqi defectors who were being paid by the US "intelligence" depts.

It's a bit late now! Why the hell wasn't this stuff checked and double-checked before curtailing the UN verification process and embarking on a preemptive invasion!

BEcause *then* we wouldn't have had a reason to invade Iraq which was Bush's only reason for becoming President.

That's great! It's a shame that the media isn't making a big enough deal out of it though...

it did make the front page of the l.a. times today...

call me paranoid/cynical...but it sounds like powell is covering his own ass...which means the administration is fishing for a scapegoat to this whole mess.

someone will burn before this next election...if not powell, then it will be rice.

everyone else knows too much to be allowed an angry exit.

Sorry, didn't see that. I tend to just go to the websites of the newspapers.

The links on sites had small text, without even a description. It should be the biggest news event right now, considering it means that we're at war with a country without good reason.
