Despite having a model number that fits in the range of the power supply repair extension program (http://www.apple.com/support/powermac/powersupply/repairextension/), since it happened exactly 3 years, 3 months after purchase, so they are going to charge over $300 to repair.

This happened on the same weekend that my iPhone 3G produced a white screen of death and had to be replaced. At least that didn't cost anything, but that is little solace in the face of this insult. I simply do not have the $ right now to go spending on a new desktop or repairing this one, and its rather annoying to know that this is a known issue that they aren't going to repair on their dime.

... and to top it off, if I DON'T get this thing fixed, my 'QUAD G5' license plate will become prematurely moot.

Call another Apple rep and demand to go up the line on this. They fixed my out of warranty Quad power/logic/processor for free.
