So I have the old 3.06 with 8800gts and 4GB ram.

I assume the new with gts 130 will perform the same or a little better?

The new has faster fsb and ram, but how much of a performance difference in the real world are we talking here?

Not big, maybe 5-10%. GT130 (aka 9800M GTS) will be faster than 8800 but we're not talking about huge bumbs, maybe 10-20%.

Don't upgrade, it's just wasting your money

Why would you need this new iMac if you have such a great machine? 🙂
I suppose you can run all the great games and applications just fine. Especially Valve games work like a charm I guess... Left4Dead, HL2 etc...
Enjoy you iMac!!!! Don't waste money!

x2

if you do want an upgrade, go with a windows system with i7 + some 4870sli chipset. you'll probably save $1k on it too.

The new iMacs aren't very exciting in my opinion, which is nice as it means there is no great need to upgrade.
