Upgrade to Vista or Wait for 7???

I'm kind of interested in taking advantage of The Ultimate Steal deal, where I can get Vista for something like $60.

I'm really not a big user of Windows, just have it installed for the few times every couple of months I might need it. I do, however, like to have the latest software, but paying full price for something I don't need is not going to happen.

I think I'm going to pass on the Office deal, but do y'all think I should pick up Vista or just wait until 7 comes out? I've heard it could be coming out in early September.

If I do wait, do y'all think there will be another ultimate steal promotion going on?

I really don't need it. I was just wondering if those testing 7 would say it's worth the wait. I've heard good things about Vista, but if it's being replaced in 6 months, I don't want to spend $60 on that.

Testing 7 on a couple low-end computers.

It's great. Wait for it. Spending money on Vista (unless you are buying a computer you desperately need) is a waste of money at this point.

$60 is a great price for a full licence. I can't even get an OEM copy through my distributer for that price. If you've got an opportunity to buy it for that, buy it, and use it. If at some point you want to move to 7, either you can buy an upgrade licence at lesser cost since you've already bought a Vista licence, or buy a full licence and use that Vista licence on another computer.

Do you already have a Windows OS and is it working fine for you? Do you need Vista?

If you can wait, wait for Windows 7.
