I would like to know if their is site that actually did real world test comparing the G4 and G5. I have a powerbook 12" and it takes a little over an hour to compile (menus, multiplex, etc) in iDVD for a project that is about 2GB. How long does it take you G5 users for about the same type of project?

hi joshuawaire,
I'd like to know what settings you've got on your 2GB project - best quality or best performance?
I've burned an identical iDVD project with my combo-drive 12" 867MHz PowerBook G4 (to disk image, yes iDVD 4, yes thanks to the Easter Bunny), and my Power Mac G5 1.8GHz single, and my G5 was about 3 times faster.

Right now I have it set to best quality. I'm not for sure that is what it was set on last time I burned a DVD. Those settings are confusing--I can never remember which one gives you what.
Thats a large improvement over the G4. I figured that would be case. Just trying to get an ideal on "how fast" the G5 actually is. Its hard to believe the benchmark tests.
