iChat and too-enthusiastic friends

Is there any way to be available to some people in iChat *some* of the time, but not all of the time? I have a very chatty friend, to whom I'd often like to speak - but there are times I'd like to talk to other people without this friend leaping in.

Any way of making myself invisible to certain people at some times, and visible at others?

hehe, well I know that the new Dead AIM with AIM 5.5 can do this. There are certain options to make you look "idle" at the click of a button, talk thru "away messages", stuff like that. Unfortunately that's only on the Windows side. I wonder if someone is doing the same thing for Mac though.
