Decided to give it a shot and try out Jail Breaking my 3G, everything went fine except when I went to connect to itunes to restore with the custom firmware. When itunes was done it say that itunes could not restore. Any ideas where I went wrong? Thanks!

First off, we need to know what kind of computer are you on. Windows or Mac? And have you tried using quickpwn? I'm guessing you used pwnage tool.

I'm on a mac and used Pwnage, what's the main difference between that and Quickpwn? I know I've previously read it on here but can't recall what it was.

If you don't care about unlocking your iphone, then update to 2.2.1 in itunes and run quickpwn, and it will do all the work for you. you can get quickpwn from here (blog.iphone-dev.org) or just google for it.

alright so i already had my phone jailbroken and unlocked to tmobile but i wanted to upgrade to 2.2.1 and now i cant seem to jailbreak it. Quickpwn is stuck on the "quickpwn is about to run on your iphone" stage and it has been for a while. Please help! I need my phone back, I always seem to have problems jailbreaking and it's getting quite annoying I must admit. Please reply ASAP! thanks

The reason it isn't working is because 10.5.6. disables DFU mode. Go here (blog.iphone-dev.org) and there are instructions to renable DFU mode (might not be on the first page). The fix works great and is easily reversible. I do the fix everytime before I perform a jailbreak.

If you want to keep your iPhone unlocked, don't use quickpwn, the baseband will be updated and then you won't be able to unlock
