My dear old printer!

I am considering purchasing an iMac. I have an old HP Laser jet printer which connects to PC with a parallel connector. This machine is still going strong after 14 years and I love it. What are the connectors that will allow me to continue using this printer with a new iMac. How do I conect from iMac to a parallel port??

You want a parallel to USB port cable. You can get them cheap all over online. Here is an example of a bunch from tiger direct. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=471

You may have to do some digging to see if it will work with OSX even if it is plugged in - 14 years :eek: is a tough call. I suggest searching around on your exact model and "compatible with iMac?" before spending the money. If it doesn't work get yourself a decent enough Cannon printer/all in one for only $50 ( $100 rebate came in about 6 days) when you buy your new iMac!

Thanks for the info. Well I do have a good HP printer, fax, copier, etc that runs on my wireless network but the older one is just B+W laser and is still fast and gives good copy for the "casual" things I want to print. So the information is very helpful.
