Few months shy of my 18. Brand new 27" iMac just came in the mail yesterday. Pictured on the left side is my old, crappy Dell laptop, connected to my even older, crappier gateway monitor. iPad 1 is settled nicely between.

X-post from the original setup thread.

I cleaned up my desk just now (yay for cable management!).

I'd recommend the TwelveSouth BookArc and BassJump to everyone that uses a MacBook. They're absolutely great accessoires.

I believe that Apple's engineering and beauty is best represented in a simplistic setup

-24 inch iMac 2.8 Ghz, 2 GB Ram, 320 GB Hard Drive
- Apple Wireless Keyboard
- Apple Wireless Magic Mouse
-White iPhone 3GS (Not pictured, used to take photos)

I will add either a 11-inch or 13-inch MacBook Air in February for uni

I was gifted everything you see by my parents and am very grateful for what I have been given....no complaints with performance at all and I have never had a single problem with any Apple product!

Edit: Excuse the dim lighting, the pictures were taken at night

What do you think you will choose, the 11'' or the 13''. I'm in the same dilemma at the moment. Thinking of getting the 11'' though, if i really need the extra screen real-estate ill buy a external.

I recommend the 13", especially if it is your main/primary laptop. I'm 2nd year undergrad and I have the 13". The 11" is really small and it can get tiring to use for long periods of time. The price difference isn't that much (~$100) and you'll benefit from the larger screen.

Haha glad you liked my setup then dude. About the snow, that's Australia for you haha, we go in season and it could still be 30 degrees boarding with just a t-shirt. Half the time it's all man made snow because it melts from the weather. The slop could be perfect one week and hardly any snow the next :(

My setup - my 8GB iPod nano, 16GB Samsung Galaxy Note and newly purchased 32GB iPad 4 are not in the picture.

What is in the picture is a MacBook Pro (Late 2011) with 256GB SSD in a BookArc, connected to a BassJump, an LG IPS237L display and, of course, Magic Mouse and Wireless Keyboard. Behind the monitor there is an external harddrive enclosure that holds the original 500GB MacBook harddrive.

Do you have any other external speakers or just the BassJump? I'm thinking of having a similar setup to yours (maybe different brand of monitor) and was wondering if the MacBook speakers would be enough.

The MacBook speakers most definitely are enough when combined with the BassJump. Excellent sound production for the regular user, I suppose.

I'd say go for it! You'll enjoy it, no doubt ;)

So, just because he just joined the forums, and this is his first post, you're accusing him of lying? Seems like a warm welcome. I'm not sure he would make an account just for the sake of trying to impress Apple-fanboys on here. Even if that's the case, why bother? He's only fooling himself

OT: Modified my setup a bit and got some new goodies :)

http://d.pr/i/DqAd+

The first picture shows a 13-inch MacBook Pro (Late 2011, 2.4 GHz i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD), connected to a 23" LG IPS237L display. Behind the display is the MacBook's original 500GB harddisk in an external casing for Time Machine-backups and some extra storage.
The laptop stands in a TwelveSouth BookArc and is also connected to a TwelveSouth BassJump 2 (which stands behind the iPad).
Said iPad is a 32GB iPad 4 (Wi-Fi) with a brown leather smart cover (original Apple, although the 'tan' leather has been waxed so that it matches my leather bag and flip cover for my phone).

Next to the Wireless Keyboard, there's a 16GB Samsung Galaxy Note which is my daily driver phone. It runs a stock version of Android 4.2.2, in case you're interested :D
Furthermore, there is a Magic Mouse, Apple Remote and 8GB iPod nano (4th generation) on my desk.
Not visible is a 2.5" 500GB Western Digital harddisk which contains all of my media (films, photos) but that's about it.

This is my little book shelve, by the way, which I use to store all my packaging. I think it's handy to keep all of that stuff in case you want to get rid of it, but since it looks good as well... why not? ;)

Posted this in the Windows setup thread, but I'm 17 so it belongs here too!

Nothing fancy. I only bought the monitor that is on the desk. The rest were given to me/taken from my school (they gave me permission of course)

So here are the pictures. Specs and what is here will be after http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/24/ta2yruqa.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/24/dade4uhy.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/24/4apunede.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/24/eza5ave7.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/24/3unepa6y.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/24/zaqaraby.jpg

It's honestly nothing fancy.

The desktop is obviously custom. It was what I could afford at the time. I recently bought a new motherboard, case, and graphics card.

Here are all the parts

ASRock H61MV-ITX motherboard. Cheap!
Intel Core i5 2310 CPU
HIS AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz ed. 2GB
Corsair Builder series CX500 500W PSU
64GB Corsair boot SSD (don't know the model)
1TB Seagate storage drive
250GB WD Blue hard drive, for Android stuff
ASUS DVD-RW drive
Bitfenix Prodigy case (Orange of course!)
And that's it!

Mouse: Logitech Performance MX
Keyboard: Logitech G510
Microphone: Samson Meteor Mic
Headphones: Beats Solo HD
Joystick: MadCatz v.1 or something...
Controllers: generic 360 controller and the Guitar Hero X-plorer (not pictured)
Drink cooling device: USB Mini Fridge
Monitors: Acer S200HL, HP 2009 19" monitor, VIZIO 22" TV

Now for the Mac portion

11" MacBook Air 2011

Core 2 Duo 1.6 GHz
4GB RAM
128GB SSD

Mouse: BlueTooth Mighty Mouse
Headphones: Apple EarPods
DVD drive: LG DVD-RW external drive
Monitor: old Dynex (I think) 19" TV. It works ok

That's the Mac setup.

Other devices:

OUYA Game Console

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (hopefully to be traded soon!)

iPhone 5 16GB Black and Slate

There is also a pair of BlueTooth Plantronics Backbeat GO headphones

The rest of the stuff is just random junk.

There are some really nice setups in here. when I was 17 it wasnt common at all for everyone to have a computer. the internet itself was still in its infancy. most companies back then didnt even have a website. now such a thing is unheard of. There was no broadband either. just dialup. most people would cry if they had dialup now. along time has past since i paid 1300 dollars for my 166 mhz machine. not ghz. mhz.

how I see people with watercoolered godzilla machines. man times have changed. things are so much better then what they were. it is fun to say though i remember when there was no internet. people look at you and gasp. no internet? geeze what did you old timers do. we went outside. remember outside?

-iPad 1 32GB (iOS 5.1.1)

Haha, yeah, this thread makes me feel so old. I think I may try to find some old photos of my setups.

I remember shopping for my first computer (which I purchased with my own money) and I was making a huge deal about it needing two cd drives.

I had these foam letter stickers and put them all over the monitor (the plastic, not the screen) and I thought it was so cool.

My God.. it was so tacky.

Okay the old lady is done reminiscing.

Great setups, young folks.

Congrats to those who have actually purchased it all themselves. And good for you to the kids whose parents purchased it for them.

There's nothing wrong with either one and i'm surprised at adults coming in to this thread and making comments about kids having all these computers and asking why they need them.

Honestly, most adults on this forum probably don't need their setup either. Hell, I have a 27" iMac, a Macbook Pro, an iPad Mini and an iPhone 5. I rarely use the MBP and Mini.

And now the old lady is done acting like an old lady, period.

I am 15 and paid for a majority of this.
So, over the summer I completely redesigned my desk, it is now 100% Intel (well, except for a PowerMac G5 I have for decoration, still an amazing thing to look at) I also added a TV, wireless printer/hard drive rig using an old AirPort Extreme, as well as an old 1980's Technics Vintage Stereo. I finally got around to adding the TV in and wiring it back up to everything else. Will be buying the 5th Generation iPad and the 2nd Generation Mini when they come out . Enjoy!

This is a continuation of part 2

A few ground rules:

1) Use [timg] tags in stead of [img] tag for large images, or even better: attach them to the post and use the [attach] tags.

2) Please do not QUOTE images. Snip them out if you can.

3) If you've already posted your setup in part 1 or 2 there's no need to repost it here, unless the setup has changed (significantly), of course.

4) Keep it civil, and remember the general forum rules.

5) Enjoy. ;)

So kids can show off what they have and how they have it, I think.
Everyone can post in this one:

same as this thread without the age requirement

Ah. Looked like a Topre keyboard at first glance, though Cherry switches are the second-best thing.

You can get replacement buttons in all different colors. Its not too difficult to put your own on as there are many tutorials online.

I'm 15 and this is my setup. Devices:

MacBook Late 2008 2GHz, 8GB RAM, 320GB HDD, OS X Mavericks
Wacom Bamboo Pen
HP w1907 Monitor (1440x900)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
Magic Mouse
HP Keyboard
(Not Pictured) Samsung Galaxy S3 16GB
(Not Pictured)HP Deskjet 3050A PSC
(Not Pictured) Verizon FiOS Wireless Router

I bought/obtained everything myself. I do a lot of bartering, and I got the laptop by trading my ThinkPad for it (T500, 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Professional, 320GB HDD). I knew the person, they needed a PC for work, I needed a Mac for school. The MacBook came with OS X 10.5.8, 2GB RAM, and stock 160GB HDD. I put the upgrades in. The image won't upload for some reason, it's in JPEG format. I wonder why.

There's no picture.

I couldn't get it to upload for some reason, kept getting an error. It's still doing it. I couldn't link it from Dropbox, either.
