Hi all - don't know if this is the right place, so I apologise if it's not.

I am wondering how I would rip a CD ad convert the files to mp3 so that I can send them in an email.

Thanks

use itunes

also unless you own the copyright or have permission from copyright owner, you cant email mp3's legally. just some fyi

so more specifically, how do I do that on Itunes?

Sorry - I am really slow when it comes to computer stuff. I tried uploading the CD today, but the files were still really big. Apparently it was uploaded as mp4 or something (according to the person I tried to send it to).

you have to go in advanced from prefs and then change the import settings

however, .mp4 imo is a better codec than .mp3 for music. you will not see a noticeable size reduction by converting it (unless you did it as a very low bit rate which i would then say its not even worth it as you lose so much quality)

please dont pirate.........

The import settings are now in the general preferences (no longer under "advanced" as dukebound85 said) Choose MP3 encoder in there.
