MBA and external monitor don't work

Just bought a new monitor and hooked it up to my MBA. Screen saver
looks fine but the page is displayed off screen far left and the cursor is
not visible at all. Works fine with my Powerbook so I don't think it's a
monitor problem. Are there settings which could be wrong?? Any help
would be great!!!
 
OP, you need to mirror your displays. Make sure your Mac is connected to the external dispaly. Apple>SysPref>Displays>Arrangement>Mirror Display (check box) you should be good to go....
 
Alternatively, plug in the screen, put your computer to sleep then wake it up. It usually readjusts the monitor upon waking.
