1.12 GB RAM on iBook?

Hi All,

I'm considering making the switch from PC to Apple (for my wife at least - I still have to use PCs for work ... but I really, really want a PowerBook) and one of the things I noticed was the 640 MB limit on the iBook.

I never buy branded memory when I upgrade, so I went to both Crucial and http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator/modelsinfo.asp?SysID=+17255+&distributor=0&submit1=Search to see how much memory upgrades would cost. The Crucial 512 MB module is $50 less expensive, but I see that Kingston are offering a 1GB module raising the maximum memory to 1.12 GB.

Has anyone ever tried this?

When a Mac comes out the limit is set by how much memory you would be able to put in it at the time

It should work so long as its the right type of RAM, it has been done with other models like the G3 iMacs and they have be ok, but i would not be brave enough to try it out myself :D

well if you are thinking of buying it..check out www.transintl.com too...they have it for 329 $ and they give lifetime warranty...

other world computing is a great place to buy ram for a mac owner. they only deal with macs so whatever they sell you will work period.
