View Full Version : New Album releases that you're anticipating.

Abstract
Apr 9, 2004, 05:09 AM
The Bad Plus already recently came out with Give, so that's off the list.

All I'm waiting for now are:

- The Beastie Boys -- some time in June.
- The Streets - May 10th
- Polyphonic Spree - July 13th
- Kings Of Convenience - some time in 2004
- The Roots - The Tipping Point - July, I think.
- Portishead - in my dreams. :(

I'm awaiting the Kings Of Convenience album the most. Two guys playing acoustic.....that's it. They're quite amazing, and Erlend Oye is also quite well respected in dance music, since he's chums with Royksopp and did the voice for "Remind Me". Best voice around. Try "Winning A Battle, Losing The War" if you want to hear one of their songs.

Shakira just released her live album Live and Off the Record on March 30, so that's off, too. However, since her website says she'll release a new album in the fall of this year, I'm looking forward to it even though it's a long way off, maybe 6 more months. She's also done a few interviews lately saying that she's written 60 songs and that she's only going to use 12 on the new album, which surprises me. I hope she at least means 12 in each language, because 12 is not very many songs.

desperately waiting for PJ Harvey's new album - June 8

Bonnie "Prince" Billy's tribute album.. was supposed to be out March 30, delayed, hopefully out by the end of this month. Unfortunately, iTunes doesn't have any of his music yet. This album will be released on Tract records.. a very tiny label. Hopefully they'll sign up with CD Baby to get this on iTunes.

also, The Pixies are possibly coming out with a new album after, or possibly during their reunion tour this summer. The tour is definite.. the album, i'm not so sure. i can only hope.

There are a few new albums I'm looking forward to, but nothing remotely as anxiously as the new mono (http://www.canal.ne.jp/~sound/mono/e_index.html) album, "Walking cloud and deep red sky, Flag fluttered and the sun shined"
So good, so beautiful...

i almost forgot!.. William Shatner's album is coming out sometime this spring (no release date yet, probably gonna slide into early summer). It's produced by Ben Folds, with a couple guest singers, such as Henry Rollins.

"Life is all about love... How would I like to be remembered? Not as an actor, but as a man who has tried to touch lives with love."

R.E.M., due sometime in the Autumn... I want it to be f**kin' raw!

Beastie Boys, mid-year.

Portishead, who know's, but they're finally back in the studio, and I thought the wait between 'Dummy' and 'Portishead' was a long time... Lovin' Beth's solo (well with Rusting Man') material though! :)

Moby. I'd like to see him get all experimental again.

Clint Mansell, will Mr Poppie please release his much awaited and vaunted solo album.

Juliana Hatfield, hopefully Autumn time, and fingers crossed, maybe gig in London.

Saint Etienne (unlikely to be this year) but can't wait to see how they follow up the electro pop of 'Finisterre' :D

I too am looking forward to Charlotte Martin's new album. If Every Time It Rains is any indication, it's going to be awesome.

I'm also very much looking forward to the debut of Universal Hall Pass. I guess I can't know whether it's going to be particularly good, but I'm a Splashdown addict and since Universal Hall Pass is fronted by Melissa Kaplan, I'll probably buy it no matter what. :)

Steven Patrick MORRISSEY!

OK, so I'm an aging hipster. It's been too long, but his last album (from 1997) was actually pretty solid. I saw an interview with him in Spin (I was in an airport for over 5 hours, I'd pick up any crappy magazine) and man, does he look old. I guess I'm looking old, too.

You serious? The "currently, we're working on new material right now" speech has been given to us over the past 3 years now, I think. I really hope we at least receive confirmation of an album coming out. I don't care if they say "sometime in 2006". I just want to hear those sweet, sweet words I've been waiting to hear for so long....

The Cure (getting a lot of hype one can only hope it doesn't suck)

PJ Harvey (Gotta love Polly)

I didn't realize Julianna Hatfield was coming out with a new album. That's pretty damn cool I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the heads up. :)

Some very good upcomers have been mentioned, I think this one will be good.

U2 have recorded "Tough," a tribute to singer Bono's father who passed away in 2001, for their tenth album, which they hope to finish this summer for a fall release.

[yes, I know, I'm digging up an old thread]

I want Apple to add the Jackass movie soundtrack, because there's one song on there from Public Enemy -- called Sophisticated Bitch -- that I like and isn't on iTunes.
