I love DEFCON, it's great fun. Lots of cool mods and of course, nuclear weapons.

A demo can be downloaded here (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/defcon/).

Finding a free game like that would be difficult, though.

Defcon is great fun, very tense.

cwas there not a game called somethign like "World in Conflict"? a modern war RTS with a pure focus on battle. but then i think it was a windows game.

Yep, it's World in Conflict, but it isn't a simulation of the whole world, nor does it focus on nuclear weapons. That's just the most expensive support weapon. :p And you're right, it's Windows only.

Been made, maybe last year. Watched it on a Singapore flight a few weeks ago. Painfully awful. I was glad when it was over. Had to then watch Das Boot and 12 Angry Men on my iPod Touch to recover, and still had 11 hours to go until we landed after that.

I think it's the best strategy game ever made. Warning though, once you learn how to play it, you can literally spend all day and night playing it. Doesn't have great graphics, but it's more about strategy.
