I plan on queuing up a few (~5) DVDs in HandBrake to encode for the night. My 2.4 GHz Penryn has never gone above 80C while encoding a single file that takes 35-40 minutes. I live in a dorm room and we crank down the thermostat to around 60-65F before we hit the hay. Although I shouldn't have to question the reliability of my $2000+ laptop, the heat (and some of the threads I read here) really irk me. Should I be fine letting it run over night?

I've been leaving mine running all day & night for the last few weeks.

It gets hot but it's not about to melt. I don't know why people are constantly posting temps of their computers. The computer knows how hot it is so it can do something about it!!

I let mine run about 6 hours every night for about 2 weeks straight. It stays relatively cool for running the processor at 100% (~80C).

By the way, how do you queue up more than one DVD? Do you have some sort of Heath Robinson DVD changer?
