Legal issues, age?

Hi,
I'd really like to make a good, clean iPhone app, and I believe I can learn how, however, I'm only 14, and on the site to sign-up you have to be 16/18 ( Can't remeber ), if I sign-up in my name, what sort of legal issues will I meet, I whan't the apps to go out in my name, not my mum or dads, so I can prove to my mates I've made them, and get full credit for them, any help?

First of all, it's great to see you are taking an interest in programming at your age. I'm 17, and got a parent to register through their name. You have to be 18 (or age of majority in your country.)

The short answer: There is no way a 14 year old can get around the system. Get a parent to do it.

Long answer: A 14 year old cannot put an app on the App Store. You are lying by falsifying your age at many points during the whole registration process. Plus, you have to provide a SSN when you enter tax information in addition to bank account information. And you have to pay taxes when that time comes around.

I would *really* recommend "Programming in C" by Steve Kochan. The man is a class act, and the book is a really good read. Learning the C language will also give you the foundation to learn Objective-C, which gives you iPhone OS.

Jumping into the iPhone / Cocoa stuff can be a little overwhelming, so I would start with the command-line, C language stuff.

If you're going with a Kochan book you may as well start with the Objective C 2.0 book, which is designed for those with no programming experience.

Does anyone know where you put your birth year in the system?

I checked the Dev Profile and the Apple ID settings.

Only the Apple ID settings has an option for birthDAY, but thats only month and day. no year is specified

I don't recall entering birth at any point.. but you do enter your SSN at some point, and I'm sure being under 18 would be a red flag.
