Help restore my Palm contacts please!

I just set up a Google Calendar account to synch with the Pocket Informant that I plan on buying. Once I synched Google to my iPT, my contacts were missing. All of them.
Google said that this would happen (why?) and prompted me to upload my contacts, which I did. Now, where the heck are they, and how do I get them back into my Touch?
When I first transferred them from my Palm Tungsten, I had to save them as a VCard, which is still sitting on my Windows desktop, but I've forgotten how to get them into the Touch from there.
How can I keep them from getting deleted every time I synch with Google calendar? Thanks. I NEED those!!

Responding to myself here, since everyone else was too busy to help ;)

I finally (several hours) figured out how to set up my iPT to synch with my Windows address book, which is still intact, so I still have all of my contacts. Phew!
