watching basketball games on tv through computer

I have several laptops that I can watch the NCAA games on. I was wondering if there's a simple solution to running some connection from the laptop to my tv so that I can watch the games on my tv rather than on the laptop? They are all Dells and do not have a tv card or anything special like that.

Well, you'll need one if you want to do the same on a Mac.

So there's no cable that I can run from the computer to tv without a tv card, is that what you're saying? I really don't know anything about this. I just thought since I could get it via my laptop that there might be some cable that would allow me to connect the tv to the laptop and watch it over the tv.

You did not say which laptop you have.

For my Macbook Pro 17 inch, I have a DVI to Video adapter which I use to watch videos from iTunes.

I am not sure if it will work for you, but it works for me just fine.

Which leads to the question why is it posted in apple hardware?? Anyway, it can be done non-the-less.

If all you want to do is display the image you have on your computer on your TV, you just need to pick up a scan converter. They are all over the web and range in price, and I would imagine your local best buy or radio shack has one available. The image usually isn't perfect (unless you buy a high dollar system like EXTRON), meaning not as good as the laptop screen, but they do work nicely.

You are correct. I failed to include the word "model" after "laptop". Too obvious to me I guess. The model might make a difference regarding what solution to suggest. I offered my Mac configuration as to what one might do with a Mac laptop. Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks for your response and the link. I was thinking there had to be something simple like that rather than trying to stream it from my iMac.
