When to buy iPod touch smallest version ?

wait for what, the next model? you'll always be waiting for the next model if thats the case. you'll probably have a good 6 or so months to wait if Apple follow their usual plan.

Um, the buyer's guide says "Don't buy, update soon." It also says that the ipod touch has been updated once in September and once in February.

In the new 3.0 OS they found references to a new iPod Touch, it's possible they may be released with OS 3.0 in June.

Ars Technica reports that a property list file in the iPhone OS 3.0 beta reveals the existence of four unknown products. The file references products known as "iPhone3,1", "iPod3,1", "iFPGA", and "iProd0,1".

Boy Genius Report is also reporting the existence of an "iPod2,2" entry, which we've confirmed.

There is a great possibility of a June release.

iProd. Hmmm. iPod Hot Rod? New touch with a MUCH faster processor(s). Something to give the game developers more speed for more complicated 3D games, perhaps?

Maybe the "r" is for red. The next model will have a candy apple metallic red paint job perhaps?

Maybe the "r" is for Radio. With such dependance on an internet connection, this model might have a subscription 3G data connection for those who need ubiquitous connectivity. Won't be free (knowing Apple), but will be an option you only have to pay for it when you use it. You'll get a "purchase" pop-up when you turn it on.

Just some thoughts. Might be worth waiting for. ;)

Yea, and thats what they said about the iPod 2,1 when they found it in software 2.0. We were left sans iPod 2,1 for months. iPhones are in June. iPods are in September. It has been this way for 2 and a half years now. iPods have almost always been in September.

To the op, if you want it, get it. I would reccommend getting an Apple refurbished 2nd gen 16gb for about the same price. That way, you get an essentially new (exterior all new, internals fixed and tested way beyond new products) iPod with twice the storage for about the same price.

if the 3.0 firmware comes out in june - then i would definitely wait until august to purchase one.


you should check on eBay and start 'watching' auctions - and you may want to do a 'completed listings' search to see what they have gone for recently.

i will be buying a 16GB iPod Touch very soon for my girlfriend's brother - just set a max price you are willing to pay for used, refurbished or new and stick with that.

patience is what gets good deals on eBay..


i think this summer will produce a big(ger) sales boom on eBay so you will more likely to get a great deal!:cool:

Waiting until June When OS 3.0 is announced will save you $10 (Its an Optional Upgrade), and September is most likely when the new model is out.

If you want to just play around, sure get an 8Gb, then if you like it, pick up a larger New version when its released in september.
