I'm going out for a BBQ and a bit of backyard cricket tonight and have been asked to bring some alcoholic drinks. Instead of just bringing some wine or beers I thought I'd go with knocking up a couple of jugs of fruity cocktails. i.e sangria, pisco sour, or margarita.

Can the depth of macrumors EtOH connoisseurs make any recommendations that's fit for the purpose that's a bit beyond the ordinary? I know I've come to the right place. I also have ready access to fruit and alcohol shops.

Thanks in advance :)

HAR HAR HAR, I'm so funny.

In all seriousness, I know nothing about cocktails, if there are any mods without a sense of humor, this post will be deleted shortly... Sorry for the interruption.

:D!

I kid you not there are three cockatoos right outside my window as I type this :D. They are however not helping with my drinking problem.....;)

Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster
I just like the way it sounds. There is an earth version that you can find in wikibooks (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Bartending/Cocktails/Pan_Galactic_Gargle_Blaster)

Damn this is the ticket mcavjame. As a Douglas Adams fan and going to a mid to high nerd factor BBQ this idea is going to be hard to beat :). However it does look a little acrid :D!

Definitely open to more suggestions....

Try the Flaming Moe: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_make_a_Flaming_Moe

:D

Actually, I like Long Island Ice Teas, but they are difficult to do yourself. Also, if they are made incorrectly, they can go from tasty to nasty. Of course, for fruity goodness, there are always the standbys of daquris and pina colodas. Of course, those are much more entertaining if you use Barcardi 151 instead of light rum. :)

Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?

:D

I'm normally a beer person, but this thread has me looking up cocktail recipes on the net. I also download an app on my iPod Touch that has all kinds of drink recipes.

Single Glass:

<30ml of Brandy
~15ml of Butterscotch Snaps
the balance of Pineapple juice

As a punch
2 bottles of Brandy
1 bottles of butterscotch Snaps
10L of Pineapple juice
-empty out a 10L aluminium water sack, pop off the cap and fill. Try your best to fit the now over filled goon sack back into the cardboard box (tape may be required.) Chuck in the fridge at a party.

Cheers

Vespers are good, as long as they are cold. I tried one just to see.

Very good.
