iOS Is "Becoming an Xcoder" out of date?

"Becoming an Xcoder" is a pdf ebook for beginners. I'm a newbie to Objective-C, so I've been reading this before tackling the big books.

Got to the first major piece of code today, and when I ran it in Xcode 3.1.2, it had dozens of errors.

Is this ebook out of date for 3.1.2?
 
Are you programming iphone or just the mac, because the iphone will be slightly different than that as you do not use tasks such as main()

The beginning stuff, for instance, is Foundation Tools. So I guess I'm in the wrong forum--sorry! Moving topic over there...
