Let's play a guessing game:
1) how do you think this screen got damaged
2) how much will apple tell me it will cost to repair it

looks like something with a dull point hit it right in the center (or it got closed on something like that).

i'm going with blunt object as well.

just had my blackbook screen replaced (under applecare, so it was covered), the receipt said £220 for the screen and about £60 for labor.

Which Macbook is it? I've got a core duo, early 2006 I think? that got water spilled on it. $810.00 to repair it, so it sits as I could get a refurb white one for that price. I THINK the screen is fine, not sure what is wrong with the rest. Logic board probably.

1. Someone was playing zorro in your house
2. More than the MacBook is worth
I'd pop off the screen and use it as a desktopbook. That, or sell it to someone who wants to use it as a desktopbook

Damn.

Either you are screwed or you got a new screen... judging by your comments i would guess it was the aforementioned.

Guess you could show this to the guy in the thread wondering if he should buy applecare or not...😀

1. the lid was closed and something dropped on it from the top
2. go with missionrepair - their prices are fair and they do good work

Damn.

Applecare would not help in this situation as it looks like user inflicted damage.
