In certain ways, perhaps so. Moreso, as the iPhone and apps continue to evolve.

The Wii changes the game when it comes to home consoles (new play styles, lack of emphasis on the latest/greatest/costliest processing power).

The iPhone changes the game in terms of bringing games to anyone, anywhere. Handheld games are old news, but the iPhone and iPod Touch together are making a lot more people actually DO this. (Not to mention Internet game distribution to your device wherever you are.) I know a lot of people personally who seldom if ever played a handheld game before, and NEVER carried one with them. Now they do so regularly.

Both have some innovation in input styles.

Come 3.0 with a new controller, it very well could be.

I would say yes. The iPhone bought touchscreen phones to the consumer masses, the Wii really just extends what the original PlayStation started back in 1995.

Fixed that for ya! :p

Maybe. I was thinking the PlayStation was the one that really made consoles mass market though by appealing to a much wider audience than the SNES.

I don't think either of them have brought much to the market.

The iPhone isn't really doing anything other handheld systems aren't doing today, nothing revolutionary there.

The Wii is a sort of fad thing I think. Sure, motion sensing controls are cool at first, but they get old. It's just a gimmick, nothing to really see as "game changing".

I guess I can see where you are coming from. I was thinking without the failed deal with Nintendo Sony probably would have never got into gaming.
Shoot Apple's first foray failed miserably. This one is doing pretty well. I wouldn't call it DS/Wii level awesomeness though.

The Wii is just an evolution of the DS, which was the game changer in the industry. The iPhone has pretty big shoes to fill (in terms of sheer units).
