For those of you who have ordered 1 TB drives from Apple, which drives are they using?
Thanks!

Western Digital Caviar Blue and Black
Are you sure about the blue... they don't list one in 1TB capacity on their website...

Oh sorry :o --I thought he was asking about all HDs--you're absolutely right, the 1TBs are Caviar Black, the 640GBs could be either Blue or Black (I think they're Black in the 8-cores and Blue in the Quads, but don't quote me :) )

This site needs a neener smiley. My 2.26 8-core came with a WD6400AAKS - Caviar Blue. The Black 640GB drive is fairly new I think, at least I didn't see it when I was looking into WD drives a month or so ago.

Ditto on mine. I could have sworn I saw somewhere on Apple's site that the 640 drives had 16MB cache, while the 1T drives had 32. I thought it was even in the expanded info of the HDs on the configure page, but if it was, it's not now.
Glad to hear about them using the 1T WD Black drives, though. Just received the same drive from OWC today.

I opted for an RE3 drive from Newegg rather than a Caviar Black 1TB drive. This machine isn't getting shut down much, so reliability is a key factor.

That drive should serve you well. :) I just ordered 4 of them myself. ;)
