Iam currently run my own graphic design company and have just been using an inkjet for far too long, Iam looking to upgrade to a lazer digital printer, but dont want to spend too much and want it to do a pretty good job, I would mostly be using in for short runs, like flyers, business cards, stationery, proofs etc.. something in around a £800- 1000, andyone any suggestions?

If you are running a business, then the price of your equipment is a secondary consideration. Your customers pay for your equipment. You should buy a reliable PostScript printer or printers that will handle the jobs that you want to print.
decksnap's suggestion of the Xerox Phaser 7760 is a good one. Look are the complete line from Xerox, Oki, Brother, and others.
We have a Phaser 8560 and are VERY pleased with it's performance. It should fit nicely in your budget.

I have the Phaser 8560 and It works great. Nice and quick with a darn good quality for the speed. If you are mainly doing short runs of flyers, I would defiantly take a hard look at the Phaser line.
