An 18-year-old has secretly painted a 60ft drawing of a phallus on the roof of his parents' £1million mansion in Berkshire. It was there for a year before his parents found out. They say he'll have to scrub it off when he gets back from travelling.BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/newsbeat/newsid_7961000/7961224.stm).

Ancient news, although mansion tagging is taking it to a new level.

Always a lot more fun to do it on the homes and businesses in the airport landing path.

Gah, was just about to post this! Curse you mroogle!

He was probably hoping it would sit there for a couple of years until Google Maps took a picture of it, there used to be something written in the crops near Edinburgh Airport (although that was probably targeted at passing planes!)

I wonder if this sort of thing will become more and more common, especially for the sake of advertising. "Ooooh look, the Nike forest, the Starbucks wheat field, the microsoft sand dunes."

Well, what do you expect these days from the lazy kids of the wealthy.

I'm really surprised that he actually stooped to manual labor carrying paint onto the roof and getting his hands dirty.

Personally, the expected poor performance was probably par for the class.

In rural areas in the states you will see quite a few air signs painted on roofs and such. Some are as simple as the town name which is handy for navigation. Others are more specific such as good places to eat. After all pilots are known to fly to places to eat, er. conduct extensive training missions. ;)

I don't recall seeing much when I flew over in Germany or here in Asia.

Who knows, maybe someday we'll see neon lights pointed to the sky for advertising. :)

Yeah. It's quite incredible that these rich kids would actually do that. Maybe he hired somebody?

Very true… but I guess the artist wasn't after correct detail, more a kind of primitive phallic symbolism.

Actually, it's all a big misunderstanding. The young lad in question overheard his parents saying that they'd like to have a cock on the roof and he misinterpreted what they were after...

I was painting my grandmother's old fixer upper in the mid-'90s with my friend and across a 20 ft. diagonal he painted, "Metallica lives here" in white paint on a black flat roof. Years later the house sold. He painted it on two lines so it could be seen from a helicopter or low flying airplane.

It's not as shocking as the OP's picture, but it had the full effect of using a decent rendition of their classic lightning bolt logo.

Metallica does not live in a small fixer upper and probably lived in the city or north of it in Marin County in Mansions. :)

At my high school we used to have bird feeders. The senior class I wanna say 3 or so years ago put laxatives into the feeders. HAHAHAHAHA

I thought that was pretty brilliant, but the giant dick-on-the-roof thing is funny too. :D

Speaking of which, that Lonely Island CD has a track called ****-in-a-box.

What a dick, if he were my kid I'd give him a serious beating. Is he thick or something? It's surprising for a rich, clean-cut kid to do that though, seems more like something a hairy "hipster" who hangs with nuts would do. I bet his neighbor is an a**hole too.

Well, I wanted to avoid any possible innuendo. You know how amateur kids are these days - they'll take a firm (if not bulging) statement, jerk it around and offspring a mess of the original point.

Some friends of a friend of mine drew an enormous penis in the snow on a pond in Connecticut, it showed up on Google Earth and was there for a few years, just looked for it and it's been replaced with new imagery...shame. Don't know why I didn't take a screen grab of it.
