tbh, I never play video games anymore, but I still love the graphics and stuff, so I like to keep an eye out on what's new.
So this new system really caught my eye, and if you have a moment to watch a video, you'll be as impressed/skeptical as I am.

Basically, all the games are played from a server, you don't need a powerful computer/graphics card and it could also cut out video game piracy!
On top of that, they reckon there'll be no Lag!!

If you're only a tad game/geek/gadget minded, you'll like this vid:

Its interesting tech and I think we'll see a lot more of its type in the future. Im not so sure how quick this will get shut down though, pretty much all console manufacturers and game devs would be against it.

Dunno, I'll believe it when it's actually out.

This somehow reminds me of the Phantom.

So, it's basically X/Windows all over again?

I hope its everything they say it is.
It seems like you only rent the games or can you 'buy' them?

Why would devs be against it? It opens up a whole new market for them for users with only entry level hardware. The console manufacturers can't really do anything to shut them down either.

Still, I don't think we will see it any time soon.

Interesting but I'd still feel more comfortable actually owning my games and running it locally.

I just can't get my brain around the idea that anything like this could work, it's way too easy to overburden my internet connection as is, and I have the second to top-tier service offered by Rogers. Then factor in the basic idea that internet providers LOVE to throttle, how long before they start throttling stuff like this when it starts maxing out their backbone?

Edit: Plus I love owning a pimptastic PC, always have and always will.

Already 2 threads on this with the consensus being lag will kill it and/or its a bad idea not owning the games.

btw, they answered a few questions. as far as lag is concerned, u need at least a 5mbps connection and they use a dif video compression algorithm and they have servers on both us coasts. and lag was not there when they showed it off
