I have a 10.4 operating system right now. How can i upgrade it to 10.5?

Yes you can. The specifications are clearly stated on Apple's site on OS X (http://www.apple.com/macosx/techspecs/).

Do u recommend switching despite the huge price? Isn't 10.6 coming out soon?

I believe I've seen it for a little less than this (http://www.amazon.com/Mac-OS-Version-10-5-6-Leopard/dp/B000FK88JK/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1238041998&sr=8-1) but not in ages.

Microsoft doesn't give out operating system updates for free. Why should Apple? :D
