Flash CS4 color fade question

Hello,

I'm looking for the panel labeled color effect in the properties window...only i'm not seeing it there. Is there something I have to do to make that option appear in the properties window?

you have to have a movie clip or a graphic symbol selected, then go to the properties window and there is an option for "color effect" -> "style" where you can pick brightness, tint, alpha, advanced, etc.
