Discount RAM? Is this a good deal?

I have an Intel 2.4mhz iMac and want to upgrade the memory. Found a compatible offer from TD/CompUSA for 4 GB for $14.99 after rebates. Sounds to good to not take advantage of. BUT, is this offer a compatible option? Here it is...
OCZ SLI-Ready Dual Channel 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2x2048MB) any help would be appreciated.

OCZ is good stuff, that's exactly the kit I just got from Amazon for $25 after rebates. It works fine in the iMac.

It has nothing to do with trust. Companies are going belly-up all the time. When that happens, what happens to your lifetime warranty?

Your statement is an ambiguous one about the fact that any company can declare bankruptcy. So what? For technological products that take considerable skill and resources to get off the ground, you don't offer a lifetime warranty unless you are prepared to honor it. There's no incentive to scam based on this because it's not a business you can just start up one day and start scamming people. The warranty is their measure of confidence in their product-- not how long they believe they will be in business. If you want to go exploring a company's financials before you buy a stick of RAM from them, that's your prerogative.

And the hassle alone to get new memory a few years from now would probably drive someone to just go buy some at the store especially if they needed their computer asap.

That being said OCZ is know brand of memory. You shouldn't have a problem. Just make sure it is compatible. Laptop memory (200pin) and the right speed for you iMac.

Maybe there is some other there, but I've never bought any memory without a lifetime warranty. I could wrong, but are there any companies offering memory for your computer that doesn't have a lifetime warranty? ((And I'm not talking about Apple, when you buy a Mac you get a one year warranty--I'm talking about retail, after market)

The problem is, the RAM market is different. Without exception, the good RAM I see has it and the ones that don't I don't hear good reviews about. Couple it with the fact that RAM is cheap, and the warranty becomes an easy barometer without having to list the companies. Simple as that.

OP - The Ram is fine. This thread is kinda getting away from your question.

However, that said, all ram, High End or not, can fail. I've had cheap ram last forever and good RAM be DOA.

What you linked SHOULD be okay, barring it being DOA which again, can happen to any brand.
