- iLife Support 9.0.2 (http://support.apple.com/downloads/iLife_Support_9_0_2) "improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues." The 3.97 MB download is recommended for all Aperture, iLife 09, and iWork 09 users.
- iPhoto 8.0.2 (http://support.apple.com/downloads/iPhoto_8_0_2_Update) weighs in at 87.86 MB and "improves overall stability and addresses minor issues in a number of areas, including Faces, Places, photo sharing, and slideshows."
- iMovie 8.0.1 (http://support.apple.com/downloads/iMovie_8_0_1) weighs in at 24.53 MB and addresses several unspecified stability and usability issues.
- iWeb 3.0.1 (http://support.apple.com/downloads/iWeb_3_0_1) is a 14.23 MB download that "addresses issues when publishing to an FTP server and other minor issues."

Yay, this fixed some annoying problems I was having. I can now remove keyword shortcuts. When hovering the pointer over a person in faces the pictures seem to be in order now, although the order is still incorrect in events.
Edit: They finally made a way to manage locations without having to choose "new place" (which has been renamed to "find on map"). The location manage is under "window", "manage my places".
Edit 2: The name bubbles now have the arrow off-center if the face is near the edge of the photo. Previously it would point beside the person.

So. Looks like Apple has some new updates today for iLife and iWork 09. Once upon a time I was an update freak. Couldn't update fast enough. But now I have grown much older and wiser. Apple updates usually have a negative impact on me as a Tiger user. After updating, things that once worked fine, no longer work correctly. Apple updates don't seem to be "stability" improvements anymore. The updates usually have something to do with integration of something else Apple product related that I don't own or have any interest in using. I'm not gonna update my iLife or iWork 09 this time around. I'm going to go with the ol'e "if it ain't broke don't fix it" thing... This way things will still work and I don't have to buy a bunch of other Apple monopolized products. If I was Apple I would concentrate on quality not on how to make everything smaller. But than again I could careless about all the kids that want micro sized everything.

That's what I thought when I switched to Mac, but it is just a lie. On a positive note you don't have annoying bubbles popping up all the time telling you to restart.
Looking forward to trying out the iPhoto updates.

I know this is off-topic for this thread, but THAT DRIVES ME NUTS!
At my workplace we run XP and the security updates are pushed to us. I get a little bubble that pops up and says "A security update will be automatically installed in 23 hours and 59 minutes." Uh, ok.... I click it and it goes away, and I get back to working until.... POP! "A security update will be automatically installed in 23 hours and 58 minutes." Yaargh!
Back on topic: I do find it a bit comical when Apple pushes multi-megabyte updates (sometimes quite large) with only "minor bug fixes and improvements".

hmm, i only changed the top and bottom arrows in Appearance, never through Terminal. I used Terminal once when I first got my Mac, screwed up, and haven't really used it since. :) When I set the arrows to bottom only, it works fine. This only occurs when I use top and bottom.

Feels like I am running a windows machine again.
After this update it broke EYETV on my macpro with a Miglia tuner and on my macbook with an elgato diversity tuner!
After loading EYETV, 3 seconds later the stream dies and there is no signal strength.
hmmmm thanks apple for the "update". Any idea how I uninstall this?

The updates installed just fine on my MBP (2008), but after the first reboot my screen had those striping issues for the first time ever. After a second restart those were gone however...
I only wish that one of the next iPhoto updates adds the possibility to show all photos with detected faces that have not yet been named. I really miss that!

Does anyone know if the iWork update fixes the issue of Quicklook for iWork 09 files. I find that some iWork 09 files under Quicklook display a folder listing instead of the file itself.
Re-installing iWork 09 initially fixed the problem, but it was not long before it regressed again.

An iLife update killed your USB TV tuners? With all due respect, this sounds rather far fetched. Have you considered something else would be the matter?

Current Macs with the Nvidia chipset boards (all unibody laptops) have slightly different power outputs on the USB ports. Some USB powered hard drives and specifically some eyeTV receivers don't work correctly on the low powered ports. The Macs fulfill the USB specification but the USB peripherals don't always. That's why a lot of external 2.5" hard drive cables have another USB plug for extra power.
Try out other USB ports or use a powered HUB and see if it helps.

I realize that it's WSUS... sadly our IT department is not very sympathetic to our users, all in the name of security (case in point: we're not allowed to change our screen savers!) The problem I have is that the notifications say something like "click here to keep working and make these notifications go away" but they don't go away as promised. There's no point in trying to ignore a reminder that insists on re-reminding you every minute.

Sorry to hear that about your IT dept. Sounds like your boss's boss needs to escalate...or those constant notifications hasn't ticked off the right person yet. It's a simple fix in group policy change those notifications to show every few hours instead of every few minutes. Screen saver thing...well, sorry but I can understand the IT group locking that down. It's a security thing and a professionalism thing.
BTW...keep an eye out on how they're acting on 4-1.

My thoughts entirely.
I use the tuner on my Mac pro every day, it stopped working after I installed the update.
I use another tuner (eyetv diversity) on my new macbook and this has also stopped working after the update.
I guess apple changed something and now it will be Elgato's problem to come up with a software update/fix.

The updates installed just fine on my MBP (2008), but after the first reboot my screen had those striping issues for the first time ever. After a second restart those were gone however...
I had this same issue, and rebooting fixed the striping issues on my late 2007 MacBook.
However, I also have other issues. I have several slideshows that I've created, with custom playlists of songs selected from my iTunes library. Now, in iPhoto 8.0.2, these slideshows don't play properly. I had them all setup to fit the slideshow to the music. That no longer works with multiple songs selected. It keeps giving me an error message saying I have to either select fewer photos, or increase my music to more than XXX amount of time. The problem is that I have more than that time amount selected with the songs, but iPhoto won't recognize it as such. And to top it all off, if I tell iPhoto to just show the slides for XX seconds, then the slideshow will play, but if I have 2 songs in the custom playlist, it will play them both at the same time!
Anyone else having this same problem and have any idea how to fix it???

Is there something I am missing in the menu set up in "Fit to Music" that will tell me the time needed to fit pictures to music ?

I found a fix, well, the answer is to download an older eyetv version, this then works.
You can then apply the latest eyetv update as per normal, I guess just reinstalling eyetv fixes it. Reminds me of when windows apps used to crash because they were sharing dll's and certain software depended on specific dll versions!

Hopefully this solves all the nasty bugs in iMovie '09. The thing was unusable. Dropping the filmstrip transition between two video clips caused video in the clips not to show up ... argh!!! 3/4 of the time you couldn't drag & drop music into your video, you just couldn't get the drag to start. Hopefully iMovie '09 is useable now.

I have a unibody Macbook 2.4GHz with EyeTV3 and a Miglia Tuner and I had none of the trouble you mentioned. My TV reception is not perfect on some channels, but it is exactly the same after installing all of the updates.
It's possible something in your configuration was affected, but I don't think it will apply to everyone.

You're not going to get flash widgets, at least not until flash is supported on the iPhone. I don't think even after that happens though that you'll get flash widgets. Most of the time they're ugly, and even with Apple designing them, I'm sure they prefer JS/HTML/CSS.
iWeb 3 brought 2 new templates.
I don't think a point update would bring major new templates and features, although the first ever update to iWeb brought comments I recall.
If I was going to wait for something, it'd be templates that don't require being re-uploaded for every blog entry and such. The ability to even post online, or from an iPhone. It would require a major rework, but it'd be better than another bloated template.

Previously, before I installed the update, iWeb 09 wasn't allowing me and other MacRumors users to successfully use a FTP Windows server with an iWeb site (some users were saying that only Linux Hosting Plans were working), now it works almost fluidly. This, is hugely important to me as re-uploading every file in a site every time I make a change was quite bothersome. Now, I could build, update and publish directly through iWeb.
:D Congrats, Apple for the update, but in a way these are bugs that should of already been resolved in the day 1 install.
