Hello and welcome to Rumors of War!
We are a World of Warcraft guild that was started about a month ago through a thread right here on macrumors.com. We are an up and coming and already have a guild roster of 20+ members from MacRumors alone! We currently have a guild bank and are in the process of voting and deciding on a tabard design.

We wanted to create a new thread to share the exciting idea with everyone and attempt to generate new life and interest. We are ALWAYS looking for more of you to join us, especially those of you that are longtime members of the forum.

For those that would like to join in on the fun, whether you are experienced or new, and level along with fellow members, it's easy to join us! Simply create or use your World of Warcraft account and make a HORDE character on the realm CHROMAGGUS. Once created...add my character (Madison) or any of the current members from the guild to your friends list. When you see one of us on, feel free to whisper us or message us about an invite to the guild and we will get you in with no problems or questions asked. Just make sure to mention that you are from MacRumors :D

Also...when you've created your character in World of Warcraft, make sure to come back on the forums and let us all know of your characters info. This way, I can add you to the roster and other players can find you and add you to their friends list if they desire. Enter in your info as shown in the example.

If I were still in the game, starting out a totally new toon on another server is a big ask. Money is a big problem, and well since ALL of you are starting new toons, well no one has any money, no one has any professions. A fresh start is a pain frankly.

sorry I haven't been on as much either! I only have my character to level 5 which is pathetic! I'm going to get rolling on it this morning and hopefully work into a more consisten schedule of leveling in my free times in the morning before my classes. Hope others can start getting on and joining in...

What do you all think about being horde? Are there that many of you that want to do alliance? Cause I keep hearing comments here and there about being ally...let me know what ya think!;)

I'm seriously considering canceling the order and getting a MacPro from the Apple Store. 5 business days has passed and still not even out of Shanghai.

So... Yea, I got a MacPro. 8 cores. 2.26GHz. OpenGL guns in all sixteen logical cores... Everything turned on, maxed out and at 4X anti-aliasing. 60 FPS in Shattara... I am speechless. To make it all the more amazing... 1900X1200 on the new 24" LED Cinema display. And this is only the 120 not the 4870 which is still coming. Wow... Literally. I have much of the weekend off and getting out of work at 2 today. I'll be on.

you can get to 20 in about a week. and thats slow play.

pssst... the MT GL driver really only uses one extra thread beyond what the game normally uses. So WoW can use something between 1.5 and 2.2 cores worth of CPU depending on what is going on..

Really? Awe... Now I'm disappointed. Multi implies more than dual... Does it make a difference that I've two quad core processors? Regardess though 60 FPS with everything on and 130 odd against walls and inside is insane for Shattera (sp). On my MacBook Pro... I was geting low 20s in Shattera (sp). Cannot wait for the 4870 to arrive.

2009 2.93 quad 4870 ATI with everything maxed and 2x oversampling had a low of 27fps and a high of 65fps in Dalaran with it averaging in the low 40s / high 30s most of the time.

Note - The fps isn't consistent and is constantly changing by quite a bit.

Either turning on V-Sync or turning it off will help steady your numbers. I can't remember which. What resolution are you running at and LCD or CRT?

Yea, same here, haven't been able to get on at all yet, still trying to download the beast. On a 1.5 Mbit connection. Getting Optical 16 Mbit Friday. Can't... Wait... Any... ::optimums prime dies::

Both my laptops are taking 6-7 hours to complete the download. Yet my PC on day 1 took 20 minutes to download the patch...

It's a major patch - they 'balanced' and changed and reworked a ton of talents for every class. They redid everyone's talent trees, added a lot of new content, opened a new major raid dungeon, allowed ability to dual spec (having 2 talent trees you can switch between for 1000 gold) and more. Quite the overhaul.

I haven't been on in about a week and a half due to being hit by life like a truck, lol. Not in a bad way, just been moving, preparing for a trip to Switzerland for a week (this sunday coming up) and finals. That and work.

Alright, I finally got my laptop up and running again. OS-X Sever. Updates. Then the install and download of a billion and one patches and updates. But I think maybe just maybe I can give it a try and see if I can play some WoWC. The final patch just finished updating... No wait I was wrong, still some more patching. Well, I will be playing soon enough. As for runs and or grinding... I don't "grind" or do the same mission over and over and over and over and... Wait what was I talking about? Oh yea... Repetitiveness. I don't do it. But I'm happy to explore and do multi-person quests/raids once. The only reason to do it again is if you wipe. Well, I'm off to do some more patching then jump into my shiny new six months worth of playtime! iWoot...
