I ask this question due to the heated debated happening with the current lead story (Microsoft targeting Apple prices). But I'm not asking this question is relation to strictly Apple. In general, should companies lower their prices due to a bad economy?
Of course we all WANT lower prices and nobody will complain when a company does, but I have seen quite a few comments that Apple and others NEED to lower prices at this time. I guess I am in the camp that says "no". I don't think any company should lower prices strictly due to the economy. Of course if sales are stagnating and of a concern to the company, than lower prices would obviously help. But just like I don't expect a company to jack up their prices when the economy is rosy, I don't expect lower prices just because it's all gone south.
Just curious what others think about this.
