Moving away from fixed positioning [Archive]

Hey,

I just made a sweet site, looked great in firefox, xhtml 1.0 strict and css. Validated fine.

Looked at it in IE and it looks a mess.

Any ideas?

It might be easier to help you if we had the code or at least the link to the website.

I removed the css as it didnt take me long and it was stressing me out lol

i have attached a image for suggestions on best way do the layout.

We're not here to code a site for you. It would be best to take a first attempt on your own then we can help with the layout issues at which point it's generally best to post a link to the page so we can see it and tinker with it.

yes i understand that, i just didnt want to re do it with fixed positioning just to get informed i should of done it in relative positioning.

Will do it in fixed positioning again now

Can you give some clarity on what specifically you're wanting to help with? When I view the site in IE6 the only difference from Firefox was that the navigation wasn't vertically centered. Or are you unsure about how to do the layout with using positioning absolute? Mostly it'll just require removing those position declarations then tweaking some padding and margin properties.

I was using IE 5 to view it just tried it on safari and IE 6 and all is good.
