My iPhone is already jailbroken on 2.2. I'm trying to go to 2.2.1 iPhone software and have downloaded pwnage 2.2.5 and created my custome restore .ipsw file on my desktop. I connect my iPhone to my computer and put the phone in recovery mode. I hold the option key when I click the restore button in iTunes and then select the .ipsw file I created in pwnage (using simple mode). I keep getting the error message that the iPhone could not be restored and an unknown error occurred (1600). Any idea what gives?

Put it in DFU mode, then give it a shot 😉

Isn't that what I was doing? Doesn't DFU put it into restore mode? I got to that point, it just won't restore when I select the package.

Well, I'm trying to enter DFU mode in pwnage and I keep on failing. I follow the instructions and it keeps on stopping and the point where I'm holding in the home and power buttons. Pwnage always gives me the error message right around the 5 second point of holding in home and power.

Hmm... Are you running OSX 10.5.6?

Nope. 10.5.5

I'm going to try to use a powered USB hub instead of directly connecting to my MacBook to see if that helps.
