can someone please tell some company to FINALLY make a 5.1 COMPATIBLE USB :eek::eek::eek: Soundcard ... which is OSX compatible... :(:(

thank you...



I want to Watch Movies with Surround sound but my Unibody Won't let me :(

Can't say I've ever tried it, but I thought the optical out on the minijack would do 5.1?

But ... Do you know how much a 5.1 set cost that has optical in? :mad: I alerady have a VERY decent 5.1 but its old ... so no optical in :mad:

my sound system is quiet old, it has a huege amplifier, and everything and only takes RCA input, the sound quality on that speakers is AMAZING , retail price was about 5000€ back in the day, but its half as old as me ... so no digital stuff whatshowever!! :eek: , I don't feel like spending 200+ for some ****** sound system if I already have a VERY DECENT Surround sound system , it takes input for Front/Rear/Center

I Could but then I would loose my awesome sound system i alerady have wich was like 5000€ :eek:

Time to shop around for a most likely very expensive Digital-Analog Converter (DAC) that will take optical in, and output RCA analog.

Cheapest way would be buying a second-hand 5.1 receiver with pre-outs.

Good point, the only issue there is that may not have the sound output quality of the OP's 5000 euro system...

Therefore the pre-outs. Just use it as a DAC. Its bound to be as good as most $100 sound cards.
