im really getting into upgrading my computer and i wanted to know if the macbook can handle 1600MHz RAM. and if so, what brand do i need, how expensive will it be, and where do i buy the RAM.

Even if the system would address it, it'd be superfluous to even consider it for the following reason: the machine will utilise it at a speed of 1066MHz. Keep what you have now. You will see no benefit with 1600MHz.

The bus only supports up to 1066mhz.
Complete waste of $$ except to save the RAM and use it later, and even then it'd be a waste as that same RAM will be cheaper when a 1600mhz bus computer comes around.

You should only use it if you plan to overclock so that you don't hit a memory wall and see your cpu's real potential. 🙂 In any case, yes it should work, but at 1066
