40GB iPod Trouble

I have a 40GB iPod that has all of the sudden just died. I have tried charging it and turing it on/off nothing happens the screen is just blank. Has anyone had this happen, if so how is it fixed? If i send it to apple can they save whats on it? i have about 25GB of files on it I have no backup for. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hate to answer my own question but i found if i hold the menu & play button my ipod magically came back to life.
