Flash video

I've got a few AVI files that I ran through Adobe's flash encoder, but they won't play. There's no error messages or any indication as to why they don't load. I've tried using flash player, as well as embedding the video in a page.

I need some guidance as to a reliable solution to convert to flash, and be able to play them on our site.

AVI to Flash, complete with screenshots step by step (http://www.jakeludington.com/ask_jake/20051008_how_to_convert_avi_to_flash.html) using Flash Video Studio which is linked on that page. Advantage: Entirely GUI based.

Another approach, embedding AVI's and other video formats into Flash MX (http://www.video-animation.com/flash_10.shtml). Advantage: No extra $ or software other than Flash, note: requires a little basic knowledge of action scripting.
