New iPhone - a couple questions

First off, how do you set up a song as a ringtone?

Second, how do you set up an alarm?

Alarm is under the clock icon then alarm

For a ring tone do this
Take the song you want for a ring tone.
Cut it to under 30 secs. Make that file an ACC file.
Then drag it to your desk top.
Delete the short ACC file out of itunes.
Then change the ACC file on your desk top from Mp4 to M4r
then click on that m4r file
it should go into your ring tone section on itunes

then just synch the ring tone in itunes to your phone.
20-25 secs if the best length for a ring tone. You really cant any get anymore longer since it goes to voice mail after that.

Then go under settings/ sounds/ and select your ring tone.

Also, if you have a ton of apps and are moving them around use your dock, you can move 4 at a time and it makes it much easier esp when you have to move them 3 or 4 screens over.

As an alternate, audiko.net is a really easy site to use (there's a way to do it in Garageband, too, if you're on a Mac) to make ringtones. Just go to the site, upload your .mp3 file, cut it the way you want (you'll know what I mean when you do it. You basically just slide your little blue area to the area you want, and then it'll let you save it as an iPhone ringtone file, then put it into iTunes and sync.

How do I cut the song?


In itunes do this. Go to the song you want, right click (or if on a mac control and click). Click on GET INFO then go to OPTIONS, there you should see the start and end time of the song. Just put in the time that you want to cut out.
Click OK
Then on the next screen just click covert to AAC
And you should have a clip of the song.

NP btw, if you go the itunes route to cut the song, dont forget when your done, to go back to the orginal mp3 and uncheck the start and end times so when you play the song it wont be cut :)
