View Full Version : What is happening to my iMac Screen?

Today I just realized this weird thing on my monitor. It's like a dark mark which you can see when you put different colours behind it but not on white.

I have a 3.06GHz iMac from 2008 and this just happened today randomly.

I have no idea what this is and it is not on the screen as I have tried to clean it thoroughly with a damp microfiber cloth for a minute or so.

Help!

It's really annoying though because I really do not trust Apple Spain as there are no official stores here and the official retailers aren't nice people at all and never help you.

Should I call Apple and describe them my problem? What details do I need to get ready before, serial number?

never seen anything like that but I'm not an expert, yes, the serial number will do. Call Apple and they should send UPS or someone else to pick it up, from what I know it will go to the Netherlands and they will probably substitute the screen. Make a backup of your files, a use of Time Machine would be better. If you changed the RAM yourself, it is also better to just put in the original, just in case.

:eek: To the Netherlands? Thats going to take them like 2 weeks. I can't go 2 weeks without my iMac I need it for work :(.

Just a thought. Try shutting down and keeping it powered off for a while, letting the display settle down.

I don't know if the policy is the same but in the States/Canada, as far as I know, repairs for desktops are only done through carry in (Apple Store, 3rd Party Service Provider) or on site.

I have the same issue with my 2GHz Core 2 Duo 20" Alum. iMac.

Shutting down for any length of time didn't help.


I got mine just before Christmas 2007 so its out of warranty. Kinda feeling a bit stranded on what to do... how many other people are having this issue?
