Loose FW 800 Port

I have the Early 2008 model 15" MacBook Pro. I recently purchased a WD Passport Studio 500GB drive with a FW 800 port. The FW 800 port in my MBP seems really loose. Where the cable is plugged into the hard drive, the connection is tight and plugging it into an iMac is also tight, however the connection is really loose on the MBP. Sometimes giving the cable a bump accidentally causes it to jiggle enough to cause the drive to loose power and "illegally eject" (improper device removal). Is this common on this generation MacBook Pro. I guess I can try it on a friends and see if the connection is loose on both.
