Does anyone know how i can rip a dvd onto my hard drive, into say mpeg4 format or any other format come to think of it.

I basically want to be able to carry some dvd's around on my powerbook, without having to carry the dvd's and cases in my bag.

if i can get a few dvd's onto my hard drive, it will mean i can watch some movies when i'm sleeping in hotel rooms :) beats the three local channels they normally give you

any help would be appreciated

thanks
jason
p.s. my powerbook doesnt have a dvd burner, only a dvd rom. then agai i dont want to burn the films, i just want to transfer them and view them. not sure if the type of drive would be relevent

I have some SVCD that I have around that I want to burn to DVD> In the PC world, there is an ap to allow me to take my 2 and 3 disk SVCD and put them onto 1 DVD. How can I do this with OS X?
Thanks guys

Much appreciated.
